Durify Privacy Policy

Last updated: November 2025

Durify ("we", "us", "our") helps students stay on top of their coursework by syncing assignment information from Canvas into their Durify dashboard.

This page explains what data we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have.

1. What the Chrome Extension Does

The Durify Chrome extension (Durify Study Dashboard) runs only on Canvas pages (*.instructure.com) and Durify (durifyai.com).

When you use the extension, it:

  • Reads assignment metadata from Canvas (for example: assignment title, due date, course name, submission status, links).
  • Uses your Durify Sync Key (which you paste into the extension) to link those assignments to your Durify account.
  • Sends this data securely to our servers at https://www.durifyai.com/api/sync.

It does not read your Canvas password or intercept your login.

2. Information We Collect

Depending on how you use Durify, we may collect:

From the Chrome extension

Assignment metadata:

  • Title
  • Course name / course ID
  • Due date
  • Submission status (submitted / not submitted)
  • Assignment link
  • Sometimes a short description for assignments due soon (when available in Canvas).

Your Durify Sync Key (used to associate assignments with your Durify account).

From your Durify account (website)

  • Account info (e.g., name, email) if you sign up on Durify.
  • Basic usage information (when you log in, when syncs happen, etc.).

3. What We Do Not Collect

We do not intentionally collect:

  • Your Canvas password or login credentials.
  • Your full browsing history outside of Canvas and Durify.
  • Private messages or discussion posts, except where included in the assignment metadata you choose to sync.
  • Files you upload to Canvas (e.g., homework PDFs, docs), except where Canvas exposes them as standard assignment metadata and you trigger a sync.

We do not sell your data.

4. How We Use Your Data

We use the data we collect to:

  • Show you a dashboard of your assignments inside Durify.
  • Help you track due dates, submission streaks, and weekly progress.
  • Generate AI-powered study guides and daily focus plans when you request them.
  • Improve Durify's reliability and performance (for example, debugging sync issues).

We may use aggregated, anonymized data (that can't identify you) for analytics and product improvement.

5. How Data Is Stored and Protected

  • All communication between the extension, Canvas, and Durify runs over HTTPS.
  • Assignment data and account info are stored in our secure databases with access limited to essential systems and team members.
  • We take reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect your data, but no system is 100% secure.

6. Third Parties

We may use third-party providers for:

  • Hosting and databases (Supabase)
  • Error logging and performance monitoring
  • Email delivery and support tools
  • AI services (OpenAI) for generating study guides and focus plans

These providers only receive the data they need to perform their services and are required to protect it.

We do not share your personal data with advertisers or data brokers.

7. Your Choices & Controls

You can:

  • Disable or remove the Chrome extension at any time from chrome://extensions.
  • Clear or update your Durify Sync Key in the extension (which stops future syncs).
  • Delete your Durify account (and associated data) by contacting us or using any in-app delete option we provide.

If you'd like to request a copy or deletion of your data, email us at: support@durifyai.com

8. Children & Students

Durify is designed for students and educational use. If you are under the age required by your local law to manage your own data (for example, under 13 in the U.S.), you should only use Durify with the permission of a parent, guardian, or school.

If we learn that we have collected personal data from a child without appropriate consent, we will delete it.

9. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we'll update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. If the changes are significant, we may provide a more prominent notice.
